Natural Remedies for Dandruff
It is quite natural for many people to have dandruff.
It’s quite bothersome, but still nothing out of the ordinary.
For people that hate artificial medications and going to the doctor,
it’s a good thing, then, that there are natural remedies as well for this
flaking sensation. Before going all
witch doctor on yourself, however, there are a few things that can be
avoided that may help. Taking
care of the ph balance of your scalp is one way to avoid dandruff.
The fungi living on the scalp just love high acidic levels, so wash
regularly. Do not go overboard,
however, and use too much in the way of alkaline soaps and shampoos.
That does damage as well.
With that being said, lets move on to the natural remedies.
If you have lemons and coconut oil, one remedy suggests
leaving the peels in the oil for a little more than a week.
This should be done under the heat of the sun.
After straining the result, apply the substance to your scalp.
Constant applications will make the hair dandruff free.
Another remedy that requires the use of lemon is this hot oil
treatment. Massage hot oil on
your hair and scalp and wrap it afterwards with a hot steaming towel.
This steam bath alone is already helpful.
Do this before bedtime.
The next day, the lemon comes into play.
Lemon juice mixed with cosmetic vinegar should be applied on the hair
and scalp one hour before bathing.
Finally, after washing that off your hair, a final application of
squeezed lemon juice in warm water is asked for.
Doing this around twice a week for a few months should keep your hair
dandruff free.
If lemon is not to your liking, there are other juices
that can be applied on the scalp.
When mixed, ginger and beetroot juice make for an effective scalp
care treatment in preventing dandruff.
A little more unconventional is the use of snake gourd juice on the
scalp. But speaking of beetroot,
it can also be mixed with vinegar to come up with the desired result.
Not only the juice of beetroot can be used for this purpose however,
mashing its leaves in henna paste is effective as well.
Finally, just like lemon, lime can be
used as a final rinse to make the hair shine and dandruff free.
Other pastes have also been used in treating dandruff.
Mixing bhringraj and amla in water overnight creates a cream that be
regularly applied on the scalp.
Crushing neem leaves and following the same application procedure will also
bring about good results. If
seborrheic dermatitis is the cause of dandruff, a mix of one part hydrogen
peroxide and one part apple cider vingegar in 10 parts H2O should do the
trick. Use the mixture like
shampoo, but only use a small amount as not to get the substance in the
eyes. Using olive oil, almond
oil, lavender oil, tea tree oil, and aloe vera oil on the scalp also help.
Although one must watch out for the stinging sensation with these
oils and rinse right away.
