L'Oreal Elvive Anti-Dandruff Shampoo Review
L’Oreal, the international physical beauty product empire responsible for
what about seven out of every ten women you see on the street have on their
faces or their hair at any given moment, has for some time expanded its
product line to include treatment options for dandruff.
The fact that dandruff is much more of a cosmetically embarrassing
condition than a physically threatening one means that it is an ailment a
company like L’Oreal would be interested in treating.
To this end, L’Oreal has released an Elvive shampoo that is
specifically formulated to handle dandruff and its symptoms.
As with most other L’Oreal products, one can expect the shampoo to
smell nice and feel great in your hair.
But how does it measure up when it comes to getting rid of the
flaking and the annoying itchiness?
The L’Oreal Elvive anti-dandruff shampoo contains two active ingredients
designed to knock out dandruff with a one-two wallop:
Actirox, which is supposed to eradicate dandruff and prevent it from
ever returning, and Equaderm, which seeks to undo the damage that led to the
dandruff by cleansing and restoring the natural balance of the scalp.
The recommended dosage for this shampoo is daily use, so get ready to
plow through bottles of this stuff in a matter of months.
It appears to be a one size fits all kind of product, since it is
prescribed for normal to greasy hair.
As with other L’Oreal products of this ilk, the Elvive anti-dandruff
shampoo comes in a definitive blue plastic bottle.
An interesting observation by one consumer is that the product appears to be
a relaunch of a previous formulation, which used to cater only to men who
had trouble with dandruff. It
has since been re-tooled, hopefully with more than just a cosmetic change,
to provide equal opportunity dandruff elimination for both men and women.
The photographs used by L’Oreal to promote the product on their site
show pictures of both men and women, so it seems that they have expanded
their market considerably, or simply decided that women, too, suffer from
dandruff.
Consumer feedback from people who have used the Elvive anti-dandruff shampoo
is somewhat encouraging. In the
first place, one does not need a lot of the product to work up a nice
lather, which implies that a bottle will last a period of time.
It cleans up the scalp very well, rinsing off easily afterwards and
taking all the dirt and excess oil with it.
After using the product for several weeks, people report that their
dandruff has subsided, with the flaking very much reduced or disappearing
entirely. Also, the scalp
itchiness associated with the dandruff vanished.
It must of course be qualified that the people for whom the shampoo
worked had mild cases of dandruff, and one customer did mention that it is
far from the strongest product on the market.
The upside to that is that L’Oreal did not have to compromise on the
smell or feel of the shampoo, so it remains as luxurious as any other Elvive
product that you may put on your hair.
