Herbal Essences NFW Anti-Dandruff Shampoo Review
Sometimes, a name is all it takes to grab your attention.
A unique moniker can single out one product from all of the other
similar merchandise sitting together in the supermarket shelves, if it is
sufficiently unique and eye-catching.
This is perhaps what Procter & Gamble’s product designers thought
when they decided to refer to one of their anti-dandruff products as “No
Flakin’ Way”, a clever play on words that incorporates one of dandruff’s
distinct symptoms, flaking, with a vernacular term exclaiming that something
won’t, or shouldn’t, happen. The
Herbal Essences NFW shampoo is not only brilliantly named, but also comes in
what is admittedly an attractive, artistically-rendered bottle featuring a
bright, yellow-green ring against a sky blue backdrop.
In fact, if it hadn’t been for the name, you may have mistaken the
Herbal Essences NFW for yet another shampoo infused with some combination of
fruits, vegetables and herbs. As
it turns out, this particular anti-dandruff shampoo does sport a combination
of lemongrass and cucumber fruit, which gives it a sweet and delightful
scent, and is also beneficial to the scalp as a form of supplementary
nourishment.
Which is not to say that the Herbal Essences NFW only exists for the sake of
being able to make your hair smell great.
The shampoo’s active ingredient is the ubiquitous zinc pyrithione, a
relative newcomer to the war against dandruff, but one that strikes at the
heart of the condition. It has
recently been determined by scientists and researchers looking into this
long-mysterious scalp disorder that it is primarily caused by certain types
of fungi, as well as bacteria, which suppress the normal processes and
functioning of the head on your skin.
By introducing zinc pyrithione, a potent antimicrobial substance, the
offending organisms are wiped out, allowing your scalp to eventually return
to normal. It’s good to know
that Herbal Essences NFW seeks to make good on its promise.
Thus far, it appears that consumers who have tried out Herbal Essences NFW
are pleased with the results.
One mother seeking a remedy for the dandruff of her 6-year old daughter
wanted a shampoo that did not smell like the shampoo of her father,
something more “girly”. Her
daughter found Herbal Essences NFW ideal for this purpose, and it also
worked to cure the itchiness.
Another consumer claimed that the Herbal Essences NFW, though it didn’t
eliminate the dandruff, was the best at managing the condition, without
leaving behind oily or greasy hair, as other products would.
Apparently, an Herbal Essences anti-dandruff shampoo was released some time
ago, but it was discontinued and phased out of circulation.
Now, it’s back in a new container, with a new formulation and a new
color, but its effectiveness still impresses consumers today.
The excellent fragrance does not have a chemical odor to it that
repulses most folks from other forms of medicate shampoos, and it works well
at controlling if not wiping out dandruff.
What else can you expect from a product so audaciously named “
