Anti Dandruff Lotions
Anti dandruff treatments started as shampoos, which
made it easier to deal with the problem since a person shampoos daily
anyway. Some of these products
are still too strong, however, and a doctor’s prescription is necessary to
procure them. If one would want
to enhance his anti-dandruff rituals without medical help however, there’s
one more thing you can do. Using
an anti-dandruff lotion after taking a bath can rid your scalp of severe
itchiness and flaking. The
problem is, how do you choose the right one?
With several choices available in the market, maybe this article can
help the dandruff ridden customer make an informed choice.
One product you should try is the Secret professionel
Active Anti-Dandruff Lotion.
Instead of the commonly used Zinc pyrithione ingredients, the main dandruff
fighter in this lotion is piroctone olamine.
It’s great due to its anti-fungal capabilities and it also helps slow
down the scalps flaking. Other
ingredients include juniper oil and B vitamins 5 and 6.
Extract of nasturtium also supplements the equation.
Juniper oil’s ability to retain water will moisturize your scalp and
its medical abilities also help with whatever bacteria and fungi are living
there. The B vitamins are well
known for their ability to energize the body, but with regular use, the
scalp also ends up benefiting.
Nasturtium is also a natural antibiotic, but it isn’t proven if this ability
really helps with dandruff.
Still, the other ingredients work well enough to warrant trying it out.
If you like Sunsilk products, prepare to be
disappointed with their anti dandruff lotion.
Instructions on the bottle leave one a little confused as to how to
use the product. This also has
to do probably with how the lotion feels on your head.
Instead of soothing the itchiness and redness, it just feels like you
added glop up there. Lotions are
normally leave on, but this product leaves you thinking you should wash it
off. Some have said it is ok,
but it’s not all too recommended.
If you like Dove products on the other hand, their anti
dandruff scalp moisturizing lotion is one to be picked up.
The lotion supplements Dove’s anti dandruff shampoo and conditioner
line quite well, hydrating the scalp adequately.
It’s still not for everyone though, as some extra sensitive scalps
may react to some chemicals, despite testimonials that it is mostly a very
mild product. It can feel a
little sticky when exposed to heat as well, but surely not as much as
Sunsilk’s offering. For a
mainstream product, it works well enough.
Zinc is still a classic dandruff fighter, and why
change what works right? The
Squanorm Lotion uses zinc sulfide to relieve unwanted scalp symptoms.
Its active ingredient, keluamid, is a known keratolytic that helps
with mild dandruff and even seborrheic dermatitis by breaking down dry
flakes. If you happen upon
Premiere’s Lotion though, we suggest you pass on it.
Salicylic acid doesn’t work too well on the long run.
It smells good, but you’d probably want a product that works better.
