Anti Dandruff Innovations

Anti-dandruff research has been around ever since the first indications of skin flakes on the scalp were observed centuries ago.  We’ve gone quite a long way from the times when experimental home brewed remedies would stink up the hair and sometimes the whole room.  Head and Shoulders, for one thing, introduced us to selenium sulfide, made even more popular with its use in the movie “Evolution.” Nizoral has been around for a while with its anti-fungal ingredient, ketoconazole, now readily available on store shelves.  Even these products, however, are hardly revolutionary by today’s standards.  Let’s take a look at some innovations that are newer to the field.

One new line of research has to do with specifically targeting the cells of the hair and scalp.  By going to the roots of the problem, the outcome they say is a healthier head of hair.   Ingredients like zinc PCA help detoxify the cells, something very new in fighting dandruff.  With the scalp free of toxins, fungi and other substances have a harder time growing and causing problems like flake covered hair.  When combined with aloe and other natural substances, not only dandruff is affected, but other conditions like psoriasis and eczema as well.  When looking for a new anti-dandruff shampoo, try finding one with targeting technology.

If all the zinc shampoo research still has you skeptical, then maybe some other technology will leave you interested.  It has been proven that brushing the hair regularly helps improve the circulation of blood to the head, and removes loose flakes at the same time.  Now imagine brushing with a more technologically advanced brush.  There are high-tech brushes now available in the market that use supercharged oxygen and ultraviolet technology to counter the build up in your scalp.  By breaking down said build up daily, dandruff becomes easier to avoid.

Back to zinc, a new thermophobic foam has been formulated to combine zinc pyrithione, ketaconazole and salicylic acid to fight dandruff.  The combination is said to be more effective than any one of these ingredients alone in a liquid solution.  A study conducted over several weeks showed that the group that used the foam more effectively got rid of severe dandruff.  The foam is said to be non greasy and delivers the key ingredients to the scalp better.  This might actually be the next step in fighting dandruff in the home.

The advancements made in laser hair care technology have also come to the forefront of innovative anti-dandruff solutions.  More known for fighting the effects of androgenetic alopecia and other forms of balding, exposing your head to laser treatment helps restore the scalp and its micro circulatory system.  By targeting focused light rays on your scalp, the phototherapy sessions stimulate your body’s own healing ability.  The laser treatments are carried out in weekly 30 minute sessions, and by your fifth or sixth sitting the suppleness of your scalp will be more noticeable.  You will also have much less dandruff.  Get in touch with an experienced trichologist to find out more.
